TROOP 162 SAVE THE DATE! Sunday, October 4th at 2 PM

Posted on Sep 22 2020 - 3:52pm
TROOP 162  SAVE THE DATE!
On Sunday, October 4th at 2 PM we will be having our rescheduled End of the Year Court of Honor at Ballentine Pavilion. In addition to honoring all scouts who have ranked up, earned any merit badges and scouts who have been elected to new positions, we will also be celebrating Mickey Parrella and Andrew Vela for achieving their Eagle Rank this past year. We are planning a covid- friendly Court of Honor, so please wear your mask and bring a folding chair for additional seating. We will also be ordering individually wrapped sandwiches from Nardelli's and we have attached a link for you choice of sandwich for all scouts and their families. Please fill out the link below so we can accurately count who is coming and what sandwiches to order.

Kieran Garrity Eagle Project: Saturday June 6th (Corner of Spruce Brook and Yankee Drive)

Posted on May 30 2020 - 9:42pm
On June 6th, we will build a 65 foot wooden boardwalk in Koons Preserve to help prevent injury to members of our community, which can occur while crossing slippery, muddy terrain. This new section of raised boardwalk will cross a seasonally wet area and will help prevent injuries.

Service Hours Opportunity this Saturday

Posted on Feb 25 2020 - 9:33pm

Scouts and Parents,

The Southbury Land Trust is helping scouts earn service hours (and parents are welcome to help) this Saturday morning February 29th from 9:30-12:30 at Platt Farm. If some scouts will get there a little later or need to leave early, that works too. They can still work 2 service hours.
I strongly encourage scouts to look in their books to see if the need service hours for rank up.

Bring gloves, loppers, clippers and weed wacker (with a blade if you have one)
We will be clearing along the fence line and cleaning up. Dress for the weather and bring a water bottle.

There is a parking area where we will meet.
I attached a partial map from Platt Farm and marked the parking area on the side of the road with a green highlighter, and the gate I will open for more parking.

Congratulations to Andrew Vela, Troop 162's 85th Eagle Scout!

Summer Camp Coordinator Needed

Posted on Dec 31 2019 - 10:21am

Happy New Year, Troop 162!

We have an urgent need for a parent to step forward and volunteer to coordinate our 2020 Summer Camp program.  Attending Summer Camp is one of the most important activities for our scouts as it expands their outdoor skills and affords them the opportunity to complete many merit badges that our troop does not have the resources to offer. It's also a lot of fun!

Congratulations to Tim Bovaird and Mickey Parrella, Troop 162's 83rd and 84th Eagle Scouts!

Posted on Dec 23 2019 - 9:33pm

We are very pleased to announce that Tim Bovaird and Mickey Parrella earned the rank of Eagle Scout on Monday, December 23, 2019.
